The short version
- Without an account, everything you enter stays on your phone. We receive nothing.
- With an account, we keep a copy of your entries so you can use them on other phones and share a workspace with your family.
- No ads. No tracking. No analytics tools. We never sell your data or use it for credit scoring.
- You can download everything we hold, or delete your account, from inside the app.
Who we are
DB Budget is made by Dashrath Bharat Square Technology Private Limited (“DB Square Technology”), a company registered in India. We decide how your data is used (we are the “Data Fiduciary” under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023). Contact: [email protected].
Using DB Budget without an account
Your accounts, categories, entries, budgets, goals and bills are stored only on your phone. Nothing is sent to us. If you delete the app or lose the phone, that data is gone unless you exported it (More → Import & export).
What we keep when you sign in
- Account: the email address and name that Apple or Google share with us, and the anonymous ID they give us for you. With “Hide My Email”, we only see Apple’s relay address.
- What you enter: accounts and balances, categories, income, expenses, transfers, refunds, notes, budgets, savings goals, bills and EMIs, and your workspaces.
- Optional “About you” answers: your kind of work, how often money comes in, and your main goal. They only change the tips you see.
- Settings: such as appearance and time zone.
- Sign-in sessions: for each phone, its name, platform (iOS or Android), app version and when it was last used, so you can sign out other phones.
- Security records: a short record of important account events (for example sign-in, invitations, data downloads and account deletion), linked to your internal account ID.
What we never collect
We do not read your SMS, contacts, photos, location or bank accounts, and we never ask for bank passwords or card numbers. The app contains no advertising or analytics software. Our server logs record only which page of our service was requested, the result and the time — not your IP address, your entries or your sign-in tokens.
How we use your data
Only to run DB Budget for you: keeping your phones in step, sharing a workspace with the people you invite, keeping your account secure, and answering you when you contact us. We do not use it for advertising, profiling or credit decisions.
Who can see it
- You. Your Personal workspace is always private.
- People you invite. If you share a Family or Business workspace, its members see and can add entries in that workspace only. You can remove them at any time.
- Service providers we rely on: Apple and Google (only to confirm your sign-in) and Cloudflare (carries the encrypted connection between the app and our servers). Our servers and database run on our own hardware in India.
- Authorities, only when Indian law requires it.
We do not sell or rent personal data to anyone.
How we protect it
All connections use HTTPS. Each request can only reach the workspaces you belong to — enforced by our database itself, not just by the app. Sign-in tokens are stored only as one-way hashes on our side and in the iPhone Keychain or Android Keystore on yours. You can lock the app with Face ID, Touch ID or your fingerprint.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while you have an account. When you delete your account (More → Delete account), we immediately erase the entries in workspaces you own, remove you from shared workspaces, sign out every phone and remove your name, email and sign-in links. Encrypted backups are overwritten within 14 days. Security records are kept for up to 1 year without your name or email.
Your rights
- See your data: More → Import & export → Download my data.
- Correct it: edit any entry, category or setting in the app.
- Erase it: More → Delete account, or see delete your account if you no longer have the app.
- Complain or ask: write to our grievance contact at [email protected]. We reply within 7 days. If you are not satisfied, you may approach the Data Protection Board of India.
- Nominate someone to act for you in case of death or incapacity, by writing to us.
Children
DB Budget is meant for people aged 18 and over. Someone younger may use it only with a parent or guardian who manages the account.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect.
